Economics is concerned with the alternative use of resources; and, when it is applied in health, we are concerned with how efficiently we can utilize our 3M resources (Man, Material and Money). I mean the human resource, material and the financial resources. Here, in heath, technological resources also play an important role. Every health care worker irrespective of the job profile what he/she does must be acquainted with the basic concepts of economics and its application to health sector in order to manage health care organizations and health care delivery system efficiently. This publication provides an introduction to health economics for health professionals and students with no previous economics background. It aims to present basic concepts of economics in a clear manner and to demonstrate their potential application to the health sector, particularly within developing countries. This book is prepared in line with the set curriculum, which is currently used in different universities and healthcare management training institutes. The material in this book is compiled from different books/journals that are published by different authors, my college lecture notes and from the Internet.
