Quick Overview
The second edition of IADVL’s Concise Textbook of Dermatology in essence retains the basic style of the previous edition in being lucid and concise, yet is updated comprehensively. A few new chapters have been added like dermatoses affecting mucosa, dermatological emergencies and diseases affecting the vascular system enhancing the completeness of the text. All the chapters have been thoroughly revised and updated by eminent and outstanding authors across India.
The text has been updated incorporating the recent advances and an evidence based treatment approach. Numerous clinical pictures have been added while a few have been replaced. The emphasis has been to present the content in form of tables, flowcharts, figures, illustrations and clinical photographs, instead of lengthy text. The chapters have been rearranged based on the etiopathogenetic and morphological similarities. Each chapter begins with a clear “learning objectives” and the text follows a structured pattern including introduction, etiopathogenesis, clinical features, differential diagnosis and management, in that order. Important “Key Learning Points” at the end of the chapter provide the gist of the chapter. Multiple choice questions (MCQs), both text and image based are provided at the end of the chapter to help students prepare for the postgraduate entrance examinations (NEET). A list of suggested reading will help the readers to go into more depth should they wish to read more about the topic.
