Quick Overview
Experimental pharmacology is a broad field composed of each discipline of medicine (explained under ‘Chapter 1’). Broadly, we have classified pharmacology as pre/nonclinical and clinical pharmacology for the ease of readers and also to fulfill the requirements of the various courses running in India and abroad. This book is structured and organized such that the readers have an ease in reading and understanding the practical aspect, whereas the chapters begin with the basic principles, then they move on to the techniques of experimental and clinical pharmacology followed by practically important topics in pharmacology. In the first section, we have included several chapters in the introduction, i.e. alternatives of animal experimentation, biomedical waste disposal (BWD), validation of animal models, e-learning and several other important aspects in practical pharmacology. In the other two sections, i.e. nonclinical and clinical, we have extended the number of experiments relevant to the present curriculum. Moreover, with each chapter, we have included the suggested readings and salient points to be remembered after reading each chapter and have made such an attempt to minimize the need of cross-references. Importantly, the flow of reading and use of book have improved significantly.
