This book—Family Balancing with IVF-PGTA—emerges from over three decades of clinical experience, scientific inquiry, cultural dialogue, and global observation. It is the culmination of my professional journey through two countries with distinct medical, ethical, and legal frameworks surrounding assisted reproduction. From treating thousands of infertile couples to helping families achieve their dream of having a son or daughter through legal, ethical, and medically sound means, I have come to realize that family balancing is more than a clinical option—it is an emotional right and a societal need. What sets this book apart is that it is the first dedicated publication in the world to comprehensively address family balancing—not as a controversial footnote in reproductive medicine, but as a legitimate, evolving discipline at the intersection of science, ethics, law, and culture. While other books touch upon gender selection in passing, no single volume has thus far brought together the historical, religious, sociological, psychological, medical, and legal facets of this important topic. This is our attempt to fill that void. The chapters in this book are methodically arranged to guide the reader from foundational ideas to the most advanced medical protocols. We begin by exploring the mythological and cultural roots of gender preference, including ancient Indian, Greek, Egyptian, and Chinese practices. These stories are not just allegories—they reveal how long-standing gender ideals have shaped human choices for millennia. From there, we progress into global legal landscapes, highlighting the differences between permissive environments (such as the United States, the UAE, and select European countries) and restrictive jurisdictions (like parts of Asia, Africa, and Latin America).
