Description
Mental health and spirituality are intertwined aspects of our human experience. Yet, they are often addressed in isolation, neglecting the profound impact each has on the other. During times when we navigate through the complexities of life, the strength of spirituality sustains us with solace and purpose. Similarly, the quality of our existence is determined by our emotional and psychological well-being. Taking cognizance of this, the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS) has attempted to bridge this gap, offering an exploration of the intersections of spirituality and mental health. This exploration is particularly timely in an era marked by rapid societal change, technological advancements, and increasing disconnection.
Book attempts to examine the various facets of spirituality through the lens of science. Spirituality and Mental Health has been published by the Indian Psychiatric Society as an enhanced version of the book Spirituality and Mental Health, Reflections of the Past, Applications in the Present, Projections for the Future, published by Indian Psychiatric Society, in association with Medical Wing, Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation, Mount Abu in 2019, under the Editorship of Late Dr Avdesh Sharma. Since significant research has happened in this field in the last 15 years, it was felt that it is important to publish an enhanced edition of the book on Spirituality and Mental Health.
