The Infection Control in Healthcare Settings is an ambitious project of IAP-ID Chapter. Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) have become major challenge to clinicians in the patient management, especially in the intensive care settings. This book includes not only the burden and epidemiology of the problem but also stresses on the importance of preventive measures like handwashing, contact precautions, etc. This book provides an outline in the management of waste disposal and needle prick injuries. A section has been devoted to prevention of common infectious diseases such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, chicken pox, etc. Methods to prevent HAIs even in an office setting have been outlined.
